Barcode scanner

The scanner adds characters to the barcode

CryoIndex stores exactly what a hardware scanner types. Parentheses, repeated digits, prefixes, or other extra characters therefore have to be corrected in the scanner’s output settings.

  1. Open Settings → Scanners → Check a scanner in CryoIndex.
  2. Scan the same vial once with the hardware scanner and once with the tablet camera, then compare both with the human-readable number on the label.
  3. If a value beginning with 02 becomes (02), select raw output and disable GS1 rules or AI-field formatting in the scanner manual.
  4. If other characters remain, clear configured prefixes and suffixes, then add back only a carriage return or Enter terminator if the workflow needs it.
  5. Power the scanner off and back on. Test it in an empty field in a plain notes app, then repeat Scanner check until every reading matches the label exactly.
