Release notes
What changed, and which backup version can read it.
The Android and Windows editions are still in pre-release testing. Public release notes will remain here so a lab can compare app and database versions before moving a backup between devices or platforms.
- Added cell lineage: a vial records the single vial it was frozen down from, and Trace lineage shows the chain, the vials made from the same parent, and everything descended from it.
- Refused a daughter that could not have come from its parent — a different cell line, an earlier passage, or a freeze date before it — at the moment it is written rather than after.
- Added a Parent barcode column to the import template, resolved only when exactly one non-struck record has ever worn that label, with every unresolved, impossible and circular reference reported after import.
- Saved three readable spreadsheets beside every backup: the inventory, the nitrogen log, and one written to be imported again.
- Released one free edition covering a single dewar, with the admin PIN included.
- Added spreadsheet-assisted first setup with confirmation of detected users, cell lines and minimum storage layout.
- Brought the reviewed, acknowledged and atomic CSV workflow to Settings for established laboratories.
- Hardened backup validation, storage resizing, historical addresses, import rollback and recovery paths.
- Added four Audit & QA report presets with complete CSV detail and bounded PDF summaries at scale. These are not part of the free 1.0 edition and have no entry point in it.
- Added a standalone Windows PC edition with local storage, HID barcode-scanner input, desktop controls, and platform-aware backup transfer.
Why the database schema is shown
A newer CryoIndex build may contain storage rules an older build does not understand. An older app therefore refuses a newer backup instead of guessing. Update the receiving device first; never edit a backup to bypass that guard.
