Barcode scanner

The scanner adds characters to the barcode

CryoIndex stores exactly what a hardware scanner types. Parentheses, repeated digits, prefixes, or other extra characters therefore have to be corrected in the scanner’s output settings.

1. Open Settings → Barcode scanners → Check a scanner in CryoIndex.
2. On Android, scan the same vial once with the hardware scanner and once with the tablet camera. On Windows, compare the hardware result directly with the human-readable number on the label.
3. If a value beginning with 02 becomes (02), select raw output and disable GS1 rules or AI-field formatting in the scanner manual.
4. If other characters remain, clear configured prefixes and suffixes, then add back only a carriage return or Enter terminator if the workflow needs it.
5. Power the scanner off and back on. Test it in an empty field in a plain notes app, then repeat Scanner check until every reading matches the label exactly.
