Backup and replacement devices

Moving to a new device or platform

Install CryoIndex on the replacement Android tablet or Windows PC and restore the newest complete backup. Restoring replaces the destination inventory; it does not modify the old device or merge the two.

1. Pause inventory changes and create one final backup from the old device if it is available.
2. Install an equal or newer CryoIndex version on the replacement device.
3. Open Settings → Data → Back up or restore → Restore from a backup, then select the .cix-backup file.
4. Read the validation summary and confirm the restore.
5. Check several known vials, users and dewar layouts before putting the replacement into service, then use it as the lab’s only working record.
