Cell lineage

The vial it came from is not in the list

The parent picker includes removed records because a parent has usually been thawed by the time its daughters are frozen. It excludes records struck out as never having described a real vial.

  1. Search using the parent’s barcode or donor code.
  2. If the label is no longer known, review the box and former position from which the parent was removed.
  3. Confirm the cell line, passage, freeze date, former address, and removal history before selecting the record.
  4. If two records have worn the same barcode or the exact parent cannot be distinguished, stop and choose Not recorded rather than selecting whichever record currently carries the label.
  5. If the record was struck out in error, restore and reconcile that record before using it as a parent.
